What metadata may reveal

EXIF and related metadata may record the device model, capture time, orientation, camera settings, software, and GPS coordinates. Not every photo contains all of these fields, and some social networks remove part of the metadata automatically, but it is safer to check before sharing sensitive images.

Create a clean copy

  1. Select the image in the metadata-removal tool.
  2. Create the cleaned copy and let the browser download it automatically.
  3. Share the new copy rather than the original, and keep the original privately if you may need its capture information later.

Metadata removal is only one privacy step

Removing metadata does not hide information visible in the image itself. Check faces, addresses, badges, documents, reflections, screens, and recognizable locations before publishing. Crop or blur visible private details when necessary.
