Match visible pages to PDF positions

A cover may have no printed number, while the next page is labeled 1. In that case, printed page 1 is PDF page 2. Use the thumbnail order or the viewer counter, not only the number printed inside the document.

Remove pages and verify the new copy

  1. Keep the original PDF and note the exact individual pages or ranges to remove.
  2. Enter those page positions in the removal tool and create the new PDF.
  3. Open the downloaded copy and check the pages immediately before and after every removed section.

Be careful with official and signed files

Removing pages from a digitally signed PDF can invalidate its signature. A contract, application, invoice, or evidence file may also refer to an attachment by page number. Preserve the complete original and clearly label any shortened copy.

Record what was removed

For business or compliance work, note the original filename, the removed ranges, the reason, and the date. Label the result as an excerpt or redacted sharing copy when appropriate. This prevents a shortened document from being mistaken for the complete record.

Check references after deletion

A contents page, index, cross-reference, or sentence may point to a page that no longer exists. Removing pages does not rewrite those references. Update the source document when possible, or explain the omission to the recipient.
