Use this tool

Why use FilePebble?

  • Runs locally in your browser
  • No account or watermark
  • Automatic download when ready

How it works

  1. Choose a scan or image-heavy PDF. Open the downloaded copy and check small text before sending it.
  2. Adjust the available options and start processing.
  3. The finished result downloads automatically.

Files stay on your device

Supported PDF and image operations run in your browser. FilePebble does not upload the selected file contents to its server.

Before you start

PDF compression converts pages to images: searchable text, links, forms and digital signatures are not preserved. An already small PDF may not shrink.

Good uses for this tool

  • Reduce an attachment that exceeds an email or application-form limit.
  • Make a scan quicker to upload on a slow connection.
  • Create a smaller sharing copy while keeping the full-quality original.

A reliable workflow

  1. Keep the original PDF and note its size before processing.
  2. Create a compressed copy in the browser and wait for the automatic download.
  3. Open the new file and check small text, signatures, stamps, charts, and QR codes at normal zoom.
  4. Use the smaller copy only when its quality is suitable for the recipient.

What to check before sharing

Image-heavy scans usually offer the largest reduction. Text-only PDFs may already be efficiently encoded and can shrink very little. The smallest file is not always the best result: readability matters more for forms, contracts, invoices, and records.

Honest limitations

Compression is limited by the structure of the source PDF and the memory available to the browser. A damaged, encrypted, unusually complex, or very large document may not process correctly.

If the result is not right

If the result barely changes, the PDF may already be optimized. If quality becomes unacceptable, return to the original and use a less aggressive workflow, remove unnecessary pages, or split the document instead.

Frequently asked questions

Is Compress PDF free?

Yes. The tool is free to use, requires no account, and adds no watermark.

Are my files uploaded?

No. Supported processing happens locally in your browser. Hosting and analytics receive normal page-request data, not the contents of files you process.

Which formats are supported?

This tool supports PDF → PDF. Browser memory and unusual or damaged files can affect very large jobs.
